Born & raised in Singapore, Thecla pursued a BA in journalism at Biola University. She describes herself as a journalist, illustrator,  photographer, social media content creator, videographer, writer—and storyteller. Her most recent experience currently resides at CNBC where she is a business and finance broadcast journalist. 

She is also a recipient of the Associated Collegiate Press' American Pacemaker award for her work in the Gradient Magazine & the Point Magazine.
